Competitive Draft is a former event (special game mode) introduced to Magic: The Gathering Arena with the Kaladesh patch on June 7, 2018.[1] It was replaced by Premier Draft.
Format[]
Competitive Draft follows the rules of the Draft format. Players "draft" three Packs which contain 14 cards (10 commons, 3 uncommons, and 1 rare or mythic rare). This means after picking one card the pack is passed on to the next player (during the closed beta other players are replaced with an AI). This continues until all cards have been picked.
Players then build 40-card decks. The amount of basic lands is unlimited. The actual games are played versus real players — not the draft AI.
Matches are best-of-three (Bo3). The event ends with either five wins or two losses. There is no limit to how many times a player can enter the event.
Entry Fee[]
The current entry fee for Competitive Draft is 1500 Gems . Competitive Draft is therefore a gems-only-event.
Rewards[]
Wins | Reward Gems | Reward Packs |
---|---|---|
0 | - | 1 eight-card Packs |
1 | - | 2 eight-card Packs |
2 | 800 Gems | 3 eight-card Packs |
3 | 1500 Gems | 4 eight-card Packs |
4 | 1800 Gems | 5 eight-card Packs |
5 | 2100 Gems | 6 eight-card Packs |
The loss record does not affect rewards. Cards drafted are added to the player's card collection (Keeper Draft). Pack rewards are always from the same set as the draft; for example: a HOU-HOU-AKH draft rewards packs from Hour of Devastation.[2]
